Die Grundrechte der Menschen sind in ganz Europa bedroht. Die Ursachen sind steigende Armut, anhaltende Bedrohungen der Demokratie, weitverbreiteter Rassismus und Herausforderungen im Zusammenhang mit Migration, so der Grundrechte-Bericht 2024 der FRA. Aufgrund dieser Bedrohungen ist ein starker und nachhaltiger Schutz der Grundrechte in der gesamten EU unerlässlich, insbesondere für Menschen in prekären Situationen. Der Bericht enthält Vorschläge, wie politische Entscheidungsträger und die Zivilgesellschaft zusammenarbeiten können, um der Gefahr sozialer Ausgrenzung entgegenzuwirken und eine gleichberechtigtere und gerechtere Gesellschaft zu schaffen.

Viele EU-Länder haben es Menschen mit Behinderungen erleichtert, an Wahlen teilzunehmen, so der jüngste Bericht der EU-Agentur für Grundrechte (FRA). Einige Gruppenstoßen jedoch immer noch auf Hindernisse, wenn sie wählen gehen oder sich zur Wahl stellen möchten. In dem Bericht werden bewährte Praktiken untersucht und Vorschläge unterbreitet, wie sichergestellt werden kann, dass Menschen mit Behinderungen bei Wahlen ihre Stimme abgeben können.
